About the artist

Marija Basic’s art speaks to our deep need for connection with the natural world. Many of her paintings feature forms that are reminiscent of oceans or mountain landscapes. Yet her work is also somewhat autobiographical with memories of travel and life events woven throughout the work. The images gently move the viewer’s gaze around and through their rich surfaces, luxuriating in colour and dreamlike imagery.
